Abstract
This paper introduces the realist concept of science to defend and advance the critique of positivist organization theory in the face of Donaldson's counter- critique, and to rescue Foucault from the obscurity of postmodernist interpret ations, thereby establishing his significance as a guide to organizational ethno graphy.
