Abstract

In the global information society, the importance of the Internet cannot be overemphasized. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the extent to which the Internet has been diffused in the Ivory Coast by using the framework described in Wolcott et al. (2001) which consists of six dimensions or variables capturing the state of the Internet within a country at a given point in time. Those dimensions provide an analytic tool that will help us for conducting longitudinal studies and ultimately formulating policy recommendations on how to promote the evolution of the Internet and related ICTs. This will help to further provide researchers and policy makers with prescriptive directions to address Internet adoption and diffusion in the Ivory Coast, creating the basis for sustainable ICT development.
