Abstract
This paper surveys methods of teaching and training legislative counsel, comparing, and contrasting them. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of each. The approaches considered are in-service training in drafting offices, non-academic training courses, and academic courses. The authors have experience in each of these methods which they bring to this discussion. The intent of the paper is to assist those responsible for preparing new generations of legislative counsel in choosing the ways and means most appropriate to their needs and circumstances.
