Managing research in large collaborative teams

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

The use of large collaborative teams of researchers is necessary to address complex research questions. The challenge in this type of research includes the process of managing large teams across the globe as much as the methods employed in data capture and analysis. Understanding the relationship between team structure, methods used, and the resultant complex data and its analysis is key to the success of such projects. This chapter introduces what we know about managing large-scale, collaborative research teams through a discussion of our experiences with the 'Researching the Value of Project Management' project.
