Abstract

In her poetry collection entitled Manuel de poétique à l'intention des jeunes filles (2010), Québécois poet Carole David uses intertextuality by developing onomastic networks and a dynamic system of heterogeneous references, while using deflective elegiac tones. Convening precarious or desiring voices and experiences, predominantly those of women, David's discursive hybridity creates une poétique du dialogue, through the co-presence of these fluctuating depictions or admired figures. Through a poetry nurtured by contradictions and diverse references emerges a contemporary form of mélancolie critique, within a North American and Québécois tradition, which therefore welcomes these figures and voices of the past to recreate concerned and lucid solidarities in order to face our tumultuous present times.
