Abstract
The economic underpinnings of US imperialism are weak and declining. The roots of this decline are precisely in the war economy that the US has sustained since 1948. And paradoxically, the more pronounced is this decline, the more pressures are created to build up this war economy. The US is a junky and its drug is arms-spending. But the highs are not as high as in the past, and the hangovers are worse and worse.
