    Dr. Navid Pourmokhtari's research examines issues related to gender and global governance, social movements and revolutions, and international peace and security.

    He is the author of Toward a Paradigm Shift in International Relations Studies: (Re)Claiming World Peace (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025) and Iran’s Green Movement: Everyday Resistance, Political Contestation and Social Mobilization (Routledge, 2021).

    Dr. Pourmokhtari’s other publications have appeared in the Journal of Legal Pluralism and Critical Social Analysis, Third World Quarterly, Jadaliyya, Sociology of Islam, Against the Current, the Journal of Human Trafficking, International Sociology, Foucault Studies, and the Journal of International Women’s Studies.

    Dr. Pourmokhtari is an Assistant Professor of Governance, Law, and Management in Athabasca University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

    His interdisciplinary research spans a wide range of global issues, including human trafficking and feminist activism, war and conflict, and social movements and revolutions. Much of his scholarly work focuses on security and peace studies, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing global peace.

    Driven by this passion, Dr. Pourmokhtari created a YouTube channel titled Toward Peace, dedicated exclusively to peace studies. The channel explores the diverse theoretical, social, legal, political, gender, economic, religious, philosophical, and psychological dimensions necessary for envisioning and building a more peaceful world.
