Research Interests
My specific areas of research are Regenerative Design and Virtual Design and Pedagogy. Regenerative Design focuses on a holistic restoration of the natural and built environments and examines how our designs can have a positive impact on where we live and work. Virtual Design and Pedagogy explores the role that new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality can play in revolutionizing learning.
Personal profile
Douglas MacLeod has over thirty years of teaching, research and senior administrative experience at post-secondary, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations across North America. During this time, he has led visionary, interdisciplinary projects in design, technology, research and education. A registered architect, he is recognized for his work in the field of design research and, in particular, for his expertise in Regenerative Design and Virtual Design. He is currently a tenured professor and Chair of the RAIC Centre for Architecture at Athabasca University.
